Dunwoody Citizens' Police Academy
Participate in an up-close study of police operations in Dunwoody!
The Dunwoody Police Department welcomes residents of Dunwoody, along with Dunwoody business owners, to attend this free program designed to give participants the opportunity to learn about various functions of police work through classroom lectures, training scenarios and off-site tours.
This 10-week course is offered only 1-2 times per year and takes place at Dunwoody Police Headquarters.

Our Goal
The Dunwoody Citizens' Police Academy is part of the community policing efforts of the Dunwoody Police Department. Each week, the class focuses on a specific division of the Police Department, giving students an overview of the Department's duties and responsibilities. Some of the units covered are:
- Community Outreach
- North Metro SWAT
- ChatComm 9-1-1 Center
- DeKalb County Jail
- Criminal Investigations
- Uniform Patrol
The program is open to Dunwoody residents and Dunwoody business owners 21 years of age or older. Applicants must be willing to submit to a criminal history check and a driving record check prior to being accepted as a Citizen’s Police Academy student. Applications must be submitted in person at Dunwoody Police Headquarters, which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
