The Dunwoody Police Department provides professional law enforcement services to the residents, businesses, and visitors of Dunwoody.
The Dunwoody Police Department has the best and the brightest officers providing the highest level of service to the community. Our officers are committed to keeping Dunwoody a safe community and the Dunwoody Police Department a great place to work by promoting the highest standard of integrity, rigorous training, and maintaining numerous advanced certifications.
The Dunwoody Police Department works hard to engage the community in partnerships that help to reduce crime and improve the quality of life for Dunwoody citizens. By practicing a community policing philosophy throughout our organization we get to know the community we serve and the community gets to know us. Our department provides a variety of community outreach programs designed to build relationships in the community and provide participants with important information.
From our first day in operation, we sent a clear message to criminals: You are not welcome in Dunwoody. We continue to focus on arresting offenders, reducing the opportunities to commit crimes, and educating our community.

The mission of the Dunwoody Police Department is to work in partnership with the residents and businesses of Dunwoody to provide a safe and secure environment through the delivery of fair and impartial police services, proactive problem solving, and increased community partnerships. The Dunwoody Police Department will operate in a transparent manner maintaining the highest level of integrity while working to improve the quality of life for all those who live, work, and play in Dunwoody.

Mr. Billy Grogan became the first Chief of Police for Dunwoody in December 2008. Previously, Chief Grogan served as Deputy Chief of Police for the Marietta Police Department where he was employed from 1981 until 2008.

The department is comprised of 51 sworn and ten civilian personnel divided into three main divisions: Criminal Investigations, Support Services, and Uniform Patrol.
