Evidence Custodian- PT
Job Summary:
The incumbent is responsible for the departmental functions relating to the processing, filing, storage, purging and returning of a vast array of found, seized and evidentiary property in accordance with Department policy and as prescribed by State and Federal law.
Essential Job Functions:
- Receive, process, store, release and maintain security of a wide variety of confiscated property, evidence and vehicles in accordance with Department policy and State and Federal law; secure the storage area and restrict access to authorized personnel only.
- Safeguard and maintain the integrity of all evidence and chain-of-custody in accordance with State laws and departmental policies and procedures.
- Inventory and log all items received into the department’s Records Management Software; identify property for release or disposal using court dispositions; use various databases to identify property owners and send out notifications; release property to citizens; download evidence photos to server and surveillance and interviews upon request.
- Prepare and track Department budget for forensic and evidence supplies; order all forensic and evidence collection equipment.
- Process narcotics for disposal; process firearms for release, auction, or disposal; receive, store and dispose of bicycles and vehicles; after processing, will dispose of all items in accordance with laws and policies.
- Testify in court regarding the integrity of property storage, preservation and transportation; transport property and evidence as appropriate.
Desired Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of applicable laws, ordinances, and department rules and regulations. Meet the criteria to perform the above duties in a proficient manner
Compensation & Benefits
From $16.38 - $28.53/Hour DOE
